Dr. R. Joe Wilson was the founding minister of Oakwood Christian Church in Enid, OK in 1978 and served as Senior Minister until he retired in 1999. Under his leadership the church grew to an average attendance of 500-600 people. During this time, Oakwood went through seven (7) building programs, the last being a 40,000 sq. ft. Family Life Center.

Joe received his undergraduate work from Midwest Christian College. His graduate work was done at Eastern New Mexico University, Portales, NM and Lincoln Christian College, Lincoln, IL.
His doctorate in church growth was done at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. They have held ministries in OK, IL, NM.

For several months prior to the arrival of the team from World Mission Builders, Joe makes "on location visits" if possible, and consults with the local building chairman.

Joe and his wife, Fae, were married in 1968, and live in Enid, OK. two married children, Celesta (Jude)  grandsons Caden and Jace Champagne, Nathan (Anndria) Wilson granddaughter Landree and grandson Lukas Wilson.
